Book Club: “Raising White Kids” by Jennifer Harvey (Schill)

Many of today’s white parents were raised at a time when talking about race and racism was not common practice, meaning we have little experience to draw from and plenty of questions. What can we do within our homes, communities and schools? How do we speak openly with white children about race and racism? How do we equip them to address racism when they encounter it? What strategies can we employ to live and act with more awareness in our diverse communities and teach our children to do the same? Most importantly, how do we do any of this in age-appropriate ways? Raising White Kids by Jennifer Harvey offers meaningful dialog on these very issues. Read the book and then join us on March 28th for deeper discussion and reflection.
