Making the most of reading aloud with your child

April 28 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Skeffington

Early language and literacy (reading and writing) development begins in the first 3 years of life and is closely linked to a child’s earliest experiences with books and stories. Reading aloud is a fun and effective way to connect with your child. However, it’s not always easy. How in the world are you supposed to read a wordless picture book out loud? Come discuss developmentally appropriate story formats, features, content, and language. And become familiar with early literacy behaviors. We’ll go beyond just

reading the words on the page by trying out various ways to share stories with your infant, toddler, and preschooler.
